The city is divided into 2 very contrasting parts: New Delhi, the Victorian city with wide avenues, its business district, and the parliament grouped around Connaught Place; and Old Delhi, the old city and capital of Muslim India, with alleys lined with bustling markets. The old city houses the Red Fort, a testament to the power of the Mughal emperors, as well as the largest mosque in the country: Jama Masjid.

Today, Leh is the most important city and the capital of the Ladakh region. With about 33,000 inhabitants and an altitude of 3,524 meters, the city has tripled in size over the last two decades and has become a major tourism hub. In addition to its numerous monuments and sites (Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Mosque, Namgyal Tsemo Gompa, etc.), mostly influenced by secular Tibetan architecture, you will find great pleasure in getting lost in the charming little streets, meeting the locals, and strolling through the shops.
